The pool tables at Uptown Billiards are replicas of an 1850's Brunswick table called the "Union League." Not only do they look identical to the originals, but they are fabricated identically, meaning that they play flawlessly and that you can sit, stand, dance and jump on them without someone harrassing you about the wear and tear. We reserve the right to ask that you stop making a spectacle of yourself.
There are eight tables in the "Main Room" and two tables in the "Parlor Room." In the Main Room, the tables are covered in traditional green and are 4x8 feet in size. In the Parlor Room, the tables are "championship" sized at 4.5 x 9 feet and covered in gold felt. With no exaggeration, play on the smaller tables is 50% easier than on the larger tables.
The average game of pool at Uptown Billiards could only be described as "Hit-And-Giggle." There is rarely serious play going on. Occasionally a couple guests really know how to take advantage of the quality of our tables, but for the most part "hustlers" hang out in dens of iniquity (also fun) where they can play for a quarter and find "action" (gambling) that just doesn't exist at UBC.
